Patient Confidentiality

If you require to speak to a member of staff they will be happy to discuss matters in private at the side reception door.

Patient accessibility to medical records

Patients are entitled to see their medical records on line now, anyone who has already signed up for on-line booking of appointments or repeat prescriptions will already have access. 

New patients wishing to access these facilities should speak to reception to be given a password.

At the moment all that is shown is current medication, repeat medication, last six months of repeats and allergies and sensitivities.  This is the first stage roll-out.  We will update the web site as the system is further rolled out.

General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR")

Due to the new General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") rules that are going to come into effect from the 25th of May 2018, Peartree Surgery will be cancelling all SMS correspondence to all patients from this date. The advantage of this service is to receive communication from Peartree Surgery and West Horndon Surgery. This includes appointment reminders, messages regarding investigations and information from the surgery. 

The help comply with GDPR consent requirments, we need to confirm that you would like to receive information from us. If you wish to opt back into the SMS service offered by Peartree Surgery please either:

a. Call reception for more details.

b. Come into Peartree Surgery or West Horndon Surgery to complete a form to give consent for this service.

c. Email to give written consent. You can also download our form from and email it to the above email address.



Peartree and West Horndon Surgeries has a duty of care towards children (section 11 Childrens Act 2004) and young people at risk. Doctors at Peartree and West Horndon Surgery are committed to safeguarding children, young people at risk and have a responsibility to ensure that their practice staff know what to do if they encounter child or adult abuse or have concerns that they may be at risk of harm.

This practice is committed to working within agreed policies and procedures and in partnership with other agencies to ensure that the risk of harm to a child or young person are minimised. This work may include direct or indirect contact with children (access to patients details, communication via email, text messages/ phone).

We aim to ensure that doctors at Peartree and West Horndon Surgeries is a child-safe practice.
